Economic symbiosis- when the economies work in harmony with eachother. This is how the old new england states were for the western expansion in the ohio valley. New england made things very cheap and sent them to ohio in return for food. The ohio river without appearing much in legislation, becomes an internal boundary between slave states. When 5,000 people are present in an area, they make lines and call them a territory. Then they would hire legislation and police and judges would be sent from new england. Everyone that is identified as being indian is herded together, given food and moved out west. Slavery laws are starting to be formally passed, the ones in the north are freeing slaves.
