Organization is a big part of presentations: they make businesses look organized. Enron"s success fell drastically because they were persuasive and received money when they shouldn"t have: they created an illusion of success. Things to understand: types of internal communication found in organizations, methods used to coordinate people and groups to achieve success, major models used by organizations today. Should include: job instructions, job rationale, policy and procedures, employee performance appraisals, motivational appeals. Frame of reference differences: interpretation of message difficulty. Valuable messages: reports of employee work, achievements, and progress, outline of work problems, suggestions for improvement, how employees think and feel. Flow laterally between people of the same rank. Important for: coordinating tasks, solving problems, sharing information, resolving conflict. Research indicates the grapevine is more important than most people think. Information carried by the grapevine is 75 to 95 percent accurate. People who regularly use the grapevine are more satisfied with their jobs and more committed to the organization.
