Instead of having his way with her (as she was presented to him for), he returned her to her fianc . This action won over local spanish tribes: hasdrubal defeated. Scipio wins battle against hasdrubal but it is a pyrrhic victory. After this hasdrubal leaves spain so he can help hannibal in italy. He is killed before he reaches him. Carthage wants to draw up treaty which is promptly approved in rome. Hannibal returns to carthage before treaty is approved there and they don"t. Scipio uses hannibal"s tactics against him and wins.
