Speeches: research includes audience and topic, have clear purpose, look for bridges, structure and organization are essential, beware of humor. Speak: smile- relaxes you and your audience, posture- builds and shows con dence, eye contact, animation- shows enthusiasm, kinetics- use gestures appropriately. Broadcast/spoken writing- writing for the ear: every word counts, conversational, throw away lead, time limits.
