Peasant breach: feature of plantation slavery, process of making food for yourself, 1 argument: important because it allows slaves, who are peasants and come from peasant societies, to continue to reproduce peasant existence. They can produce their own crops and goods continue your prior life of agriculture. Allows for a peasant economy within a plantation economy: societal and cultural thing. Not just sowing crops: you"re putting cosmology, religious apparatus around farming, and more to farming. Breach in the capitalist movement of labor an opening, gap to continue their peasant agricultural life: more important in latin america. Less common in usa: super exploitive as well, 2nd argument: slaves are very entrepreneurial in brazil and spanish america. Meant they could also produce crops for the market and make 4619$: lots of brazilian societies relied on this crops, not big markets, but local markets.
