Loop diuretics : inhibit the formation of osmotic gradient by inhibiting pumps in ascending limb. Aldosterone released from adrenal cortex acts at the distal tubules of the kidney. Major role of aldosterone is to regulate electrolyte balance and blood volume. Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone mechanism mediated by jga of nephron. Color: an indicator of hydration, blood in urine ph: affected by diet. Turbidity: normal is clear- increased turbidity due to suspended particles. Whether the substance is reabsorbed, secreted, or both. Renal clearance is the volume of plasma from which the kidneys clear a particular substance in a minute. Renal clearance tests are done to assess kidney function. Inulin plant compound that is freely filtered, and is not secreted or reabsorbed- this means that the rate at which inulin shows up in urine is the same as gfr. Kidneys form urine continuously- collected by the renal pelvis. Urine stretches muscularis layer, stimulates peristaltic waves of contraction which propels urine toward the bladder.
