Doesn"t change the fact that it is still an issue in the middle east (1) shouldn"t demonize islam or arab culture, though because it is an issue worldwide. Some claim that patriarchal norms are reproduced through family to society and politics, leading to strong men authoritarians: removes voices of women through political debates, making mass reform movements for democracy harder.
