Large farms have more of everything: credit, capital, insurance, relief, government favor and ultimately profit. Alternative to this agro industrial farm model is agro ecological small farms that would: employ millions with good, living wage jobs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other ecological problems in our food system, revitalize rural economies. Increase the availability of in reduced the prices of healthy food. Globalization has caused extreme changes in agrarian production, exchange and way of life (1) changes have favored mncs while undermining peasant and small hardwood or farming. Factors contributing to the rise of tams and afns: food system consolidation, neoliberalization of the food system. Especially the withdrawal of state support for agriculture: diminishing proportions of food dollar going to the farmer, persistent and widespread hunger, high quantities of food ending up as waste, homogenization of people"s diets. Tams and afns are fighting for re insertion of human rights, aesthetics, sustainability and equity into the food system.
