80% of college women don"t report rape. 67% of non-college women don"t report rape: 80% know their attackers, college women are 5x more likely to be attacked. External environment: composed of an academic institution as a particular kind of social, cultural, political & economic context. Internal environment: composed of afferent (e. g fraternity) or venerated (e. g athletes) men: these types of environments arguably create an environment where violence by men is a collective privilege not an individual aberration. Rape and sexual harassment are part of the violence privilege that these men are given. Aberration: a departure from what is normal or expected (usually unwanted. ) There is a political climate that protects assailants by pushing their own agendas (sponsors for sports teams etc. ). Therefore, they believed if they removed the oppression transgender people would essentially not need to exist: women were considered the second sex . Idiosyncratic: a mode of behavior or way of thought particular to an individual.
