Style spanned lots of styles and medias; looked at objects/subjects that were excluded from art history; arts of africa and ancient spain. Depicts gertrude stein in a full body view, seated without an accurate depiction of space. Face is relatively flat and almost mask-like. Gertrude & leo provided a space for artists to create in paris; ability to explore and encourage artists. Artists include matisse, picasso, cassatt, hemingway, fitzgerald.
