Revenue act of 1916 established an income tax with rates as high as 15%, taxes funded about half of the war effort, reduced slightly after the war, income tax becomes principle source of income for govt. Committee of public information (1917-19) designed to spread propaganda in favor of the war effort, put propaganda in us and internationally, spread ww"s 14 points. Espionage act (1917) imposed sentences of up to 20 years for people believed to be helping the enemy, opposing the draft, opposing the govt or disrespecting the flag. After spamwar, rep. party dedicated themselves to be involved internationally.
