Document Summary

Individualistic fallacy: racism is assumed to belong to the realm of ideas and prejudices. Racism framed as collection of prejudiced attitudes and beliefs. Racism seen as akin to crime: there are those who are racists and those who are not racist. Depicted that good people could not be racist ever. Back then you could clearly tell who was racist and who wasn"t because it was so outright back then. Those who you could perceive as kind could just as likely be racist or have those views because today, it is more a secret . Racism is not always intentional, overt, easy to see. The movie crash showed it as something very open and that it affected everyone equally. The movie did not talk about institutionalized racism and how each group has a different history. Artistic approach seeks to shed light on operation of racial domination and thereby to disrupt it/attack it.
