Only one version of many gender ideologies. Assign traits, activities, and ideas to each side of the binary. Need distinction to have a hierarchy, which is the society we run in. Need people to believe some deserve wealth b/c they"re born that way. Brazilian travesti- feminine men, attracted to masculine men. Iran- gay/trans men who want to live their lives as straight women can undergo sex assignment and switch all official documents to female. Gender ideologies change how we see/interpret the world, simplifies thinking process and makes it easier to divide. Ties to the category of sex and genitalia. Makes them seem natural, permanent, unchanging, universal.
