Document Summary

Yes and no the world is organized, but labels are what we as humans put on them. Science is : systemic investigation of the natural world, human activity, agreed upon principles and practices. Set of processes and body of knowledge. Energy ties everything together: ability to do work allows things to happen, important in nature: energy and matter. Two scientific views: scientists look at things in different ways. How systems work ( big picture ) and how it all fits together: holism (big) and reductionism (small) The whole at any level is much more than the sum of its parts: reductionist (more popular) Just above it = parts of living systems. Tree leaf (keep breaking down) until quarks: complex things come from interactions with smaller things, emergent properties. Lower levels work together, capable of more than being two things. More than parts put together: holistic.
