Tarantula hawk wasp: found in north america; out west in deserts. Live and feed off of tarantulas; will paralyze the tarantula with venom, and they then lay a single egg. Spider never recovers after it has been stung. The tarantula is dragged by the wasp to its burrow. The grub feeds on the tarantula, but avoid the internal organs until it is an adult (keeps host alive) It is also famous for its venom; it paralyzes the tarantula, but has a completely different effect on mammals and humans. Most intensely painful sting ever --> schimidt pain scale. He accidentally got stung by every painfully-stinging insect, and decided to create a scale. It is currently tied with the bullet ant. For his scale, the size of the listed species indicates how long the sting is (duration), and moving from left to right (darker color), indicates how intense the sting is.
