Wants to merge national and patriotic art: hans rosenhagen, "national art in berlin" (1897) Werner = court painter, rejected social realism movement art critics made fun of it and their backwardness. Surrounded by modern art and just refuses to accept the trend of the world. His students were poor artists and his tirades drove them to produce more modern art.
