People can change their membership or belong to two or more groups at the same time. Two basic units of social organization for foragers: nuclear family and band. Generational kinship: same term for parents and their siblings, more complete lumping. Belief systems started contrasting value between men"s extra domestic/women"s domestic roles. Women isolated from cowives and kin in nuclear families.
