Document Summary

Week of november 14-november 18, and november 21. The sun provides the earth with as much energy every hour as human civilization uses every year. Bohr model for atomic was made in 1913. Characteristics of metals include malleable, ductile, shiny, conduct heat, and conduct electricity. Characteristics of nonmetals include not malleable, not ductile, not shiny, do not conduct heat, and do not conduct electricity. Reactivity increases for metals as they go further down left, and increases for nonmetals as they go upwards to the right. Valence electrons are the number of electrons in the outer-most orbit. Cs is one of the most reactive metals. F is one of the most reactive nonmetals. An ion is a generic term we use for a charged species. A positively charged ion (like na+) is called a cation. A negatively charged ion (like cl-) is called an anion.
