Document Summary

Writing concept, between this class and thursday choose a concept (behavior) and apply to yourself or someone you know. Behavior potential payoff probability of payoff. Our behavior is shaped by learning in our environments. The true behaviorist is less concerned about unobservable processes. The behavioral psychologist focuses on observable behavior rather than unobservable mental processes. Learning is a relatively enduring change in behavior that occurs as a result of experience. Unconditioned stimulus unconditioned response: us: stimulus that elicits the unconditional response, ur: unlearned, automatic behavior, like a simple reflex. What is learning: a neutral stimulus is paired with he us. Conditioned stimulus + unconditioned stimulus = conditioned response ( ns cs +us = cr) To achieve conditioning, the neutral stimulus is presented just before (ideally one-half to one full second before) the us for several trials. Once the conditioning occurs, the neutral stimulus is called the conditioned stimulus (cs).
