An infant is not born with attachment: it develops gradually over the first year of life. 6 wks-8months: attachment in the making: smiling and laughing with preferred people. 8 moths-2 years: classic attachment develops: comfort, interaction, reliable care. Beginnings of attachment : synchrony between baby and parent. Animals must touch one another: social referencing: infant looks to parent to ask, how do we feel about this? . Think about how baby reacted when loud mozart music was played.
