Life of jesus: was an itinerant teacher, healer, prophet in his 30"s. Born in 4-3 bce in bethlehem to jewish parents, mary and joseph. Baptized by john the baptist; said to have been anointed by spirit of god. Taught that god"s love was available to all people. Spoke out against jewish leaders and their abuses of the power structure. Focused on compassion and forgiveness for all, disregarded and spoke against traditional social barriers of judaism. Romans and jewish leaders felt threatened by his teachings and followers. Scholars believe the jewish authority influenced the romans to arrest him for treason and bring him to trial: was convicted of heresy for claiming to be the son of god and sentenced to death by crucifixion. On the third day, several women went to visit the tomb, but the stone was rolled away and the body was gone. Jesus then appeared to mary magdalene and later to other disciples before ascending into heaven.
