We are all chameleons, two faced, multi faced, we feel different and we think differently about ourselves when we are with certain people. A battered spouse, why women have low self esteem, being abused by spouse, anybody trying to control you subtly is something you need to escape from immediately. Charles horton cooley- looking glass self, an old fashioned reference to a mirror, we see ourselves reflected off of the people we interact with, not literally but subtly. We imagine (not always right) how other people are perceiving us. We adopt the feeling or the self feeling based off our imagined judgment.
