Transports sugars, hormones, and proteins dissolved in water everywhere using translocation. *iclicker* water potential is a measure of ______ that predicts which way water will move. *iclicker* water potential decreases as you go up from the roots to the leaves. Because as water transpires from leaves, water potential decreases. As water evaporates, the cells in the leaves loose water and have higher solutes. Stomata allow surface tension to maintain the water/air boundary. Water potential: predicts which way water will move. All have an overall negative charge so they are not bound tightly to soil. Plants pump protons into the water around them form their roots in order to attract these nutrients.
