Document Summary

Introduction to remote sensing lab september 23, 2016. Spectral enhancement enhancing images based on values of individual and neighboring pixels. It allows you to see more detail through a series of operations that will improve the visual capability of the image. It helps to extract information from the image. New data created on pixel-by-pixel basis by applying an operation on the pixel brightnesses form two different bands. Subtraction: highlights the differences in reflectance between two bands. Division: ratios of different spectral bands from the same image reduce the effect of topography and enhance the spectral reflectance of other characteristics in the landscape such as soil properties. Band differences and ratios are the most common. Removes shadows and variations in illumination due to differences in ground slope. Other characteristics in the landscape become more easily interpretable. 1 band that is characterized by relatively strong absorption for features of interest.
