Psci 1034: winners and losers: power and politics. This one comes in second next to the family unit. Historically, this has been an interesting area to explore because the power of this type of socialization due to the long standing recognition. It has been intentionally recognized as a unit of socialization. This helps shape our political ideas and reinforce elements of society that we feel are important. Many of this political socialization activities still take place. Peer to peer transmission- we are generally social people beyond our immediate family units and we act with our peers on a daily basis where there is likely to be an exchange of ideas. Media provides an avenue for transmission and exchange of ideas. Most people probably think that this would be the number one source of socialization. However, traditional media like watching the news or reading the newspaper is a one-way transmission.
