Document Summary

Classical conditioning (ivan pavlov) salivation of dog, decided to pair arrival with meat power with sound of bell. Paired bell and meat powder together, then removed meat powder, rang bell, dog still salivated. Unconditioned stimulus= meat powder= elicits an automatic response. Conditioned stimulus= bell=over time elicits an automatic response. Unconditioned response= salivation= natural response to some stimulus. Conditioned response = salivation= learned response to conditioned stimulus note* unconditioned and conditioned response is always the same thing. (in ivan"s study it was dogs salivation) Conditioned stimulus- noise shaker used to get past. If plumbing connected flush toilet=hot water extremely in shower. After continuous times, toilet flushing causes you to cringe. Acquisitions- learning over subsequent trials (ex classical conditioning) Extinction- when you stop pairing the unconditioned stimulus and conditioned stimulus and the response disappears. Ex stop pairing bell with meat powder, and salivation of dog with bell disappears.
