Document Summary

Each cell can reproduce to form a separate colony, whether it be visible growth or a cluster of microorganisms. Separate two bacterias from each other by using this technique (if done correctly) Separate petri dish into four quadrants (in your head or use permanent marker on the back) In first quadrant, after sterilizing the loop mix the culture with the loop. Then grab two lines from the first quadrant and bring them into the second quadrant. Continue second quadrant by zig-zagging down the remainder of this quadrant only. Then grab two lines from the second and bring them into the third quadrant. Continue third quadrant by zig-zagging down the remainder of this quadrant only. Then grab two lines from the third and bring them into the fourth quadrant. Continue fourth quadrant by zig-zagging down the remainder of this quadrant only. Make sure to sterilize loop after each.
