Multi-Regional and Partial
Replacement Hypothesis.
A. Multiregional Evolution Model
- Old world populations (in and out of Africa) continued evolutionary development
(though an archaic phase) into anatomically modern human (REGIONALLY)
- Support: would need continuity in the fossils from Africa, China and South-east
Asia (from H. erectus, through archaics, all the way to moderns.)
- Only way model works at all assumes extreme gene flow
- Almost no one supports this
B. Partial Replacement (Hybridization) Model
- Middle of road hypothesis
