Quanitaive geneics analysis of geneic variance for coninuously varying phenotypes (r. a. Discrete genotypes (follow mendelian inheritance) can yield coninuous phenotypes in two ways. Polygeneic inheritance case where many diferent genes each contribute incremental amounts to the populaion variaion in a phenotype we see coninuous variaion in a genotype. Environmental variaion genotypes with environmental variaion can lead to coninuous variaion in a populaion. Norm of reacion set of phenotypes associated with a paricular genotype in interacion with a variety of environmental condiions and geneic backgrounds. Addiive single-gene inheritance height proporional to number of capital leter alleles. The more loci (polygenic) there are in the distribuion, the more the graph becomes smooth like a bell curve. Non-addiive polygenic inheritance the capital leter is geneically dominant at each locus. Environmental variaion example count the number of facets in the eyes of fruit lies, while changing the temperature that they"re raised see diferent trends for the diferent types of geneic eye phenotypes.
