In 2011 off the coast of northeast japan, an earthquake and tsunami had occurred, leaving many companies with plants located in japan to be affected negatively. Toyota, which was known as the world"s largest auto company for unit sales, lost this recognition after the tsunami due to 45% of its cars being built in japan. Majority of their plants had been closed for more than a month but continued to produce at half of the production and reduced the number of their bottlenecks parts. Lexus line of the top-selling brand was no longer there. Though, 70% of its production was to continue in june 2011 and be at complete recovery by the end of the year. The company had suffered some hardships, but they were able to recover to the best of their ability and learn from this event.
