Perspective taking is an important aspect of social cognitive development. Progressing from the egocentrism that characterizes early childhood, development culminates in adult level perspective taking within a societal context. Progressively, perspective taking is the ability to think from another person"s point-of-view and to understand their thoughts and feelings in relation to one"s own. The extent to which one has developed perspective taking skills will in uence their awareness and behavior when: (a) resolving moral dilemmas, (b) predicting social consequences, and (c) empathically relating to others.
