Topics covered in this class include: frequency distributions, descriptive measures, probability, probability distributions, sam- pling, estimation, tests of hypotheses, regression and correlation, with applications to business. Note: stat 1051, 1053, 1111, and 1127 are related in their subject matter, and credit for only one of these courses may be applied toward a degree. One entrance unit in algebra is prerequisite to all courses in statistics. Required textbook: statastics for business & economics, 13th edition. Other required materials: access to blackboard, a scienti c calculator (phone/tablet/laptop etc. is not allowed, access to a computer where rstudio is installed. All pcs in the academic technologies computer lab in the basement of gelman library, room b05 are equipped with an array of statistical softwares. You need a gweb account to use those computers.
