PSYCH291 Lecture Notes - Social Desirability Bias, Qualtrics, Construct Validity
Document Summary
Researchers strive to maximize the accuracy of their measures. Examples of things that result in poor questions/confusing questions. Using complex terms most would not understand. Creating bias by using questions before others that could lead to one changing their answer to the second question. E. g. asking about the economic state and if it"s approved, then asking how you think the recent prime minister has done. Usually either through qualtrics or amazon mechanical turk. Much easier to get more information from participants, but you have to worry about bots and the quality of information you"re getting. Usually done either through yea-saying (giving the same response to every question) or by giving random responses so they"re not all the same. Makes them more likely to read and consider the question than when looking at a page full of them. Makes them have to consider what the question is actually asking.
