CRJ 201 Study Guide - Midterm Guide: John F. Kennedy School Of Government, Neighborhood Watch, Drug Abuse Resistance Education
Document Summary
The mindsets of warrior vs. guardian are two models that are distinct from one another on ways to approach policing. After that, the white house put together a task force whose main objective was examining all the policing practices and come up with recommendations on what policing should look like for the 21st century. In the video by mike d"antonio (2016), he explains and examines all of the differences between the warrior and guardian mindset models in policing. "a warrior is an individual who will escalate a situation, they command people and use force to do so if it is needed. Whereas a guardian will de-escalate, gain compliance, and communicates with the people (2:46). People now more so than ever are demanding changes to the model for policing, from the warrior mindset that we currently have to the guardian mindset. This journal will examine both the warrior and guardian mindset.
