Week 12 status of animals as research subjects and food. We eat animals or have them as pets. Our cultural norm is to eat meat, people just grow up doing so. Assume that a healthier diet excludes eating meat products or for religious reasons. Most of the society eats meat those who don"t eat meat go against what"s normal. Opportunity to reflect on something that we do all of the time and don"t think anything of it. People assume that vegetarians are detached from society and make strange decisions. Addresses health issues as it relates to world hunger and our own health. Dietary advice is motivated by a strong moral theme. P1 there is scarcity of food in the world. It is still a defensible theory but some people argue that there is no shortage of calories. There are people who don"t have food. P2 animals are fed excessive protein in order to grow meat protein.
