Document Summary

Definition;hemostasis is the a process to prevent bleeding. Stable factor or proconvertin or serum prothrombin conversion accelerator (spca) Inactive procoagulants become active and finally there is formation of prothrombin activator. the formation of prothrombin factor occurs in two ways. Formation of prothrombin activator is initiated by platelets, which are within the blood itself. Injury to blood vessel and exposure of collagen. Factor xii comes in contact with collagen and is converted into xiia (activated factor) Xa reacts with platelet phospholipid and factor v to form prothrombin activator. Formation of prothrombin activator initiated by tissue thromboplastin: injury to blood vessel release of thromboplastin (factor iii) activation of. Vii to viia viia activates x to xa. Xa forms prothrombin activator (as in case of extrinsic pathway). This reaction needs factor v ,tissue thromboplastin and calcium ions. 3, 4, 5, 7, 10 (factors measured by prothrombin time) 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 factors measured by partial thromboplastin time.
