Document Summary

Sports, especially children"s sports were originally based upon the idea of just having fun and being active. However, in this day and age, the tables have turned and sports have become more competitive weeding out the weak leaving the strong to rise to the top. Sports have become so serious that children are getting burnt out before they even have the choice of competing at the collegiate level. It has been noted that each year more than half of the 3. 5 children under the age of 15 that require medical treatment are seen for injuries related to overuse (hyman). This alludes to the fact that sports are shifting from a leisurely enjoyable activity to one that is literally breaking the participants. Overuse injuries can easily be prevented and even avoided altogether through a balanced training schedule with rest days added in.
