Field contains lots of different perspectives and subfields. This course is a survey of major subfields. Psychologists- scientists who study behavior and mental processes. There are lots of different types of psychologists- Social- group behavior industrial psychologist - business and effect of organizations on people. Psychologists answer their questions by basic or applied research. Predict: predict behaviors or outcomes on the basics of observed patterns. Change: use research findings to modify or change behavior (or mental processes) Nature: inherited biological factors that shape behaviors, personality, and other characteristics. Nurture: environmental factors that shape behaviors, personality, and other characteristics.
