The electoral college is a system used in the united states to elect the president and vice president, in which each state is given a certain number of electoral votes based on its population. While the electoral college has been in use for over 200 years, there are arguments both for and against its continuation. One of the main arguments in favor of abolishing the electoral college is that it would ensure that every vote counts equally. In the current system, voters in states with smaller populations have a disproportionate amount of influence in the election.
