CHEMISTRY Chapter : Solids' Chemical and Physical Characteristics
Document Summary
The solid-state is a state of matter, to put it simply. The three states of matter solid, liquid, and gas were first introduced to us during our early education. The topics, however, are more complicated and there are more things to learn as we advance up the grades. We"ll talk about the solid-state concept in greater detail in this session and discover all the terms that describe it, like its characteristics or many types of solids. Typical characteristics of solids set them apart from liquids and gases. For example, they can endure any pressure applied to their surface. The solid state of compounds, however, is significantly influenced by the characteristics of atoms, including their organisation and the forces that exist between them. *because the constituent particles of solids are grouped closely together and have little free space between them, solids are incompressible.
