BIO 102 Lecture Notes - Endoplasmic Reticulum, Cell Theory, Organelle
Document Summary
Ib biology 1. 1 - introduction to cells - interactive. Cell theory is the basic understanding of how we perceive life. Cells have a few requirements in order to be considered alive, such as being able to grow, divide, and support themselves. Once cells reach a certain size, they can undergo cell division, which creates two new cells that are both smaller in size than the original. Stem cells are the precursor cells to the process of differentiation. They allow for cell differentiation through gene expression to take place. We can take stem cells from developing embryos that have not been differentiated yet and turn them into different types of cells and tissues. Some of which can be used to treat specific problems for people who do not have other medical options available. Ib biology 1. 2 - ultrastructure of cells - interactive. In this video, we will be discussing the differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
