Information processing theories: basic process, encoding, speed of processing, strategies, rehearsal, content knowledge. For young children, they will do it separately rather than get all the goals in one time not efficient. Types of information processing theories: multi-store model, connectionist theories, dynamic system theories. Sights, sounds, touch, etc. are stored, but only momentarily. Longer if it is being activel worked with or rehearsed. Limited to a particular number of chunks of information (approximately 3-7) Chunk could be larger if it is meaningful. E. g. , listening to a lecture is an example of using working memory. With age faster rehearsal allows greater storage in working memory.
