Document Summary

The mismatch theory is that noninfectious diseases such as type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure might be caused because our bodies have not adapted from the paleolithic era to modern life. And following that diet can lower are risks of getting those noninfectious diseases. The author of the book the story of the human body: evolution, health and disease supports this theory. The evidence that the author lieberman states to support this theory is we are evolved to crave sugar because it gives us energy, but we didn"t evolve to digest it in large amounts rapidly. Also, yes we crave sweets because our ancestors did years ago to give them energy but that type of sugar was different than ours, it came from fruits. But now we have processed goods with sugar that are loaded with unhealthy fats. We are not adapted to eat the unhealthy sweets. Therefore, this is why we have type 2 diabetes.
