Children and Poverty:

Part 1 - Service Learning Project Investigation, Preparation, and Action: Look for a way to actively participate in the fight against hunger. The Feeding America website has many ideas including launching a virtual food drive or volunteering your time. Keep in mind that you want to do something that will directly influence your community. You want to investigate the number of people who suffer from hunger where you live, and link your service learning project to benefit them. For this part you will turn in an overview of your project including what you investigated and how you are executing your plan. One page MAXIMUM.

Part 2 - Service Learning Reflection: Reflecting on your learning is one of the most important pieces of service learning. Unlike community service, service learning allows you to relate the project to your life and the decisions that you will make in the future. Write a reflection paper on what you have learned. Include a description of what you did, what you saw, how it made you feel, and how it relates to the content of this lesson. What questions do you still have and what will you do next? Reflect on how your service and learning relate to you, your community, and your future actions. The reflection should be at least 500 words and should not exceed 750 words.
