Consider the fact that many nations have or had elected female presidents or prime ministers (e.g., Philippines, Nicaragua, Ireland, Ecuador, Germany, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Chile, India, Argentina and many, many more). Also consider the fact that representation rates of women are significantly higher in many other countries.

How do you explain the fact that the United States never had a female President and has a relatively low (i.e., 20%) representation rate of women? Please make sure to incorporate the materials included in today’s audio lecture on the underrepresentation of women in Congress (Part II of lecture on Congress).
