I was wondering why the potential difference was negative forthefollowing problem: work done by external force to move a -8.5μCcharge from point a to point b is 15.0*10-4 J,charge wasstarted from rest and had 4.82*10-4 J ofkinetic energywhen it reached point b, find potential differencebetween a and b.Is the answer negative because the finalpotential difference isless than the initial potential difference?Also, is there aconceptual explanation to why the potentialdifference is negative?Thank you!
