A lunch tray is being held in one hand, as the figure illustrates (I will explain). The mass of the tray itself is 0.214 kg, and its center of gravity is located at its geometrical center. On the tray is a 1.20 kg plate of food and a 0.239 kg cup of coffee. Obtain (a) the force T exerted by the thumb and (b) the force F exerted by the four fingers. Both forces act perpendicular to the tray, which is being held parallel to the ground. The person's right hand is shown with the thumb on top and all other fingers on the bottom or the tray. A vertical line is drawn as where ALL the measurements are made to (with arrows pointing out to it) from the base of the thumb upward. The following values are labeled: from this line to horizontal distance over to the thumbnail = 0.0600m, from this line to index fingernail = 0.100m, from this line over to middle of plate = 0.240m, from this line over to middle of coffee cup = 0.380m, and from this line over to the other line way to the right which is at the right edge of the coffee cup AND end of tray = 0.400m. The force F is labeled pointing up from the index finger (and all other fingers are hiding behind it). The force T is labeled pointing down from the thumb.
