A beach ball made of thin plastic is submerged in a pool. Whathappens to the buoyant force as the ball is taken from the surfaceto the bottom. The expert answer says it increases, but I do notfollow that. My thought is:
As the beach ball is taken deeper, it will compress due to theincreased pressure of the column of water above it. As itcompresses, the volume of the beach ball will decrease. As thevolume decreases, it has a smaller surface area. Since B=?fluid*g*h and h decreases, Bdecreases.
Is my thought process correct?
