Document Summary
Voice style of expression serves the situation from which it arises. Different texts/passages are a different representations of distinct occasions in our culture. Imprint makes language characteristic; recognized as typical of how people communicate with each other in certain circumstances. New technologies have given rise to new situations and new ways of using language. In terms of social and poltcal contexts of knowledge: quality of statements about the world depended on who was making the statement. The situations that writers find themselves in give rise to genres: different routines and habits of acting in the world create different genres of speech and writing. Is a means to investigate similarities in documents occurring in similar situations.
