Movement in constrained by traffic control devices (stop signs, traffic signals) 20% of traffic fatalities and 50% of traffic injuries occur at intersections (signalized and unsignalized) There are 32 points of conflict between vehicles in a two -lane, four-way intersection. Point of conflict - point where path of two vehicles/pedestrians diverge, merge or cross. Merging/diverging - joining or separating of traffic. Major street - higher traffic flower, larger cross section (compared to a minor street) Intersections are defined by angle of intersection. Crosswalks are included also as part of the intersection. Simple - cross section and number of lanes do not change.
